As we continue our journey exploring the charms of Charleston, this week the focus is on food … specifically Charleston’s brunch scene. Brunch in Charleston reflects an eclectic cultural fusion and runs the gamut of casual walk-in fare to the stylized and reservation required.
You’ll find the usual offerings of pancakes, french toast, waffles, omelets, and mimosas, but brace yourself for that southern twist that is unique to Charleston. Among other epicurean delights, you can expect to find biscuits with sausage gravy, shrimp and grits, fried okra and … boiled peanuts! I know, … boiled peanuts don’t sound appealing, but they’re surprisingly good and are often rolled into dishes served for Brunch.
Okey dokes, without further ado, let’s consider restaurants in downtown Charleston that offer brunch.
