It’s no accident that the 2016 Revolve Conference is based in Charleston’s growing Upper King district. This area of downtown, starting above Calhoun Street, is historic in its own right, but is less touristy and more down-to-earth than its lower peninsula counterpart. Here’s where you’ll find the locals—in the many standout restaurants, coffee shops, and bars along King and in the adjacent residential blocks.

Welcome to the neighborhood! Check out a few of our favorite Upper King hangouts:

• The Daily: Charleston’s trendiest little coffee shop, selling sandwiches, and grab & go items, along with locally-made home and kitchen wares. Snap a photo at the Shepard Fairey mural just across the lot.
• Marion Square: One of Charleston’s most popular and centrally located parks, located between King and Meeting streets at Calhoun. Hit the Charleston Farmers Market here on Saturdays from 8am – 2pm for brunch, shopping, and live music.
• Dellz at Midtown: Seek smoothies, and ye shall find them at Dellz, a Charleston staple for healthy food and juices, now sharing space with Midtown Bar and Grill on Upper King. Our go-to order? The Jazzy Pizza, a tortilla-pizza with rice, beans, cheese, avocado, and plenty of sriracha.
• Charleston Power Yoga: Need to get a workout in during your time in town? This hot yoga studio is a quick walk from Sterling Hall and recommended conference hotels, and packs a powerful workout into one-hour and 75-minute sessions. Come ready to sweat!
• Callie’s HLB: The cutest little biscuit shop you ever did see, just steps away from the Revolve Conference venue. Eat in at the counter or take away to Marion Square—this Southern staple is till 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, just in case the cravings hit.
• Mimosa Boutique: Big city ensembles at a lovely little location on Upper King. Stop into Mimosa for something to wear tonight, and enjoy a beer or mimosa while you shop. Win-win.
• Blue Bicycle Books: Charleston’s beloved local bookshop with an impressive selection of new and vintage copies of every title you’re looking for (and some you didn’t know you needed). Look for the blue bike out front, and support local bookstores!
